How to promote a company in 2026: turn outbound into inbound

Optuny Insights · 7 min read

Most companies do not have a marketing problem. They have a reach problem. The buyers, investors and writers who could change their year already exist. Nobody has put the company in front of them.

Promotion, done properly, is not a blast. It is a list, a message and a person. Here is the order that works.

1. Build the list before you build anything else

In almost any sector there are a few hundred people who matter: the buyers already looking, the investors who write checks in your category, the journalists and newsletter writers who cover your space, the partners who could resell or refer you. Name them. Verify the contact details. Cut the ones who do not fit. A tight list of 300 beats a purchased list of 30,000 every time, because a real person can actually work 300.

2. Give them a reason to reply this week

The message has to answer one question: why now. A launch, a funding round, a new location, a piece of data nobody else has, an executive with an opinion. That is the hook. Without it, outreach reads like an ad. With it, it reads like news.

3. Run more than one lane at once

Email alone is slow. The companies that break through run several lanes together: direct outreach to buyers, pitches to the press and newsletters that reach those same buyers, calls to the warmest replies, and introductions through partners who already have the relationship. Each lane makes the others easier. A buyer who saw your name in a trade newsletter on Tuesday opens your email on Thursday.

4. Treat replies like gold

The fastest way to waste a campaign is a slow reply. Every response, positive or not, should be handled the same day by a person who understands the offer. That is where meetings come from.

5. Report what moved, every week

Touches, replies, calls, meetings, placements, accounts that stalled and what happens next. If you cannot see the movement, you cannot steer it. Weekly reporting is not admin, it is the steering wheel.
